Apparently the Rapture (I don’t know if it’s even a proper noun, but seeing as it is a pretty big event, the capital letter seems warranted) is set for tomorrow. I don’t know all the details, which is one big reason I’m pretty sure things won’t go so well for me should it arrive.
In that spirit, I wanted to share video of one of my favorite bands performing one of my favorite songs and my absolute top apocalyptic track. Highlights in this video include Bono’s camera kiss at 2:25 followed by some gratuitous-but-leather-clad crotch shots at 2:30. Worth it.
For the record, Justin Timberlake’s “Until the End of Time” is also on that list, as is R.E.M.’s “It’s the End of the World as we Know It (And I Feel Fine).” (This token’s best party trick is that she can sing all the lyrics to the latter song without even breaking a sweat, courtesy of watching way too much “Say What? Karaoke” as a little latchkey kid.)
And while we’re at it: Zoo TV, alongside Madonna’s Blond Ambition World Tour and Michael Jackson’s HIStory World Tour, are the three concerts I’m the most bummed about never having the chance to attend.
